Duinoord hotel Vrouwenpolder, 2017
Archihouse assisted Stanley Dymanus of Dymanus architecture with the design for an extension to an existing seaside hotel. The work range spanned from interior design to a site plan for the garden and carpark. The original modestly priced hotel dating back to the 1930's catered to families but could no longer compete with other hotels in the area. As the design process evolved Archihouse also prepared the working drawings for the planning application and the tender procedure to select a builder.
Restaurante Retrogusto, Northern Spain, 2016
Restaurant Retrogusto in Llanes is known for its fine cuisine and is housed in an old garage. It is in need of an interior to match its Michelin style cooking aspirations and keep up with increasing competition. This low cost proposal intents to revitalise the interior which had become very cluttered over the years. By changing light fixtures, hiding installations, repainting the walls and some minor additional details the overall appearance should improve dramatically.
A new interior for an apartment in Rotterdam 2015
The awkwardly shaped living room of this apartment on the top floor overlooking the harbour of Rotterdam, was a special challenge to ROAD Studio and ArchiHouse. The client wanted to rearrange the existing classic furniture and redecorate the whole apartment. Most of the art work and furniture was kept but some bespoke furniture was designed in order to create dividers and thereby more intimate spaces within the larger space.
Conceptual sketch for Duracryl, 2014
Duracryl specialises in modern seamless terrazzo style floors and is based in the Rotterdam area. The Durabella range of products with its pattern of large pebbles was the inspiration for an exterior wrapping of the warehouse and offices to set themselves apart in a drab and anonymous industrial estate.
Woo Ping Restaurant, 2014
In collaboration with ROAD Studio a sketch idea was made to revitalise and modernise the façade of a long established and well known Chinese restaurant in the area of Schiedam close to Rotterdam. Traditional Chinese restaurants like this are losing ground in face of stiff competition from other Asian restaurants with their new culinary concepts.
Silent Stones, 2013
Silent Stones in Rotterdam is not the typical headstone shop. It sets itself apart by allowing the client to take part in the design and the making of memorial pieces which helps to deal with the period of mourning. The shop moved to a larger premises as extra space was needed. The extra space was needed for a larger studio with a separate showroom. The work was carried out with a minimal budget and limited time. Uniting the three shopfront was achieved with the use of artificial grass and an advertising bar with translucent stones placed along the three shop windows.
Conceptual sketch for an office building, 2011
The main floors of this new commercial office development were lifted and detached from the ground entrance floor and underground carpark, in order to gain maximum exposure next to the raised section of a motorway.
A conceptual sketch, 2003
In 2001 William Alsop won the design competition for the new railway hub of Rotterdam. As the proposal went over budget it did not go ahead. As a design exercise, in collaboration with Ramon Ong-Alok, a conceptual sketch was made to illustrate our thoughts regarding the new station. We proposed preserving part of the old "Van Ravensteyn" design and relink the areas directly North of the station with the city centre to the South.

A Golf Club House, Northern Spain, 1990
The Golfcourse "Campo de Golf La Cuesta" is situated on the Atlantic coast in Northern Spain. It is built on a former airfield high above the Atlantic with spectacular views towards the sea and the mountain range of the "Picos de Europa". These views make the course very attractive and were the starting point for the design of this Clubhouse.
